My kitten's eye is cloudy
My kitten's eye is cloudy
I'm sorry to hear about this.
Cloudiness is abnormal but not a specific sign.
It can be seen with e.g. a congenital cataract, uveitis (inflammation), a bacterial or viral infection, a large eye ulcer etc.
It is certainly something we'd want to look into ASAP. In some cases, providing prompt treatment can be the difference between losing vision in the eye or not.
The vet should assess your kitty and both eyes and may stain the affected eye to check for any ulcers, and should also flush it to check for any grit or debris.
The treatment will depend on what is found and may include e.g. antibiotic drops and anti inflammatories.
If rubbbing at it, protect it with a buster collar. We can also gently bathe it with cotton wool and warm water.
