My cat has drainage in both eyes and turns his fur brown like what could that be? I bought some wipes and try and wipe his eyes but she doesn't like it

Hi there, this is Linda, a vet with 10 years of experience.
I'm sorry to hear about this.
Some breeds will have narrow tear ducts genetically; especially those flat-faced ones like Persians.
This cannot generally be 'fixed' but we can manage it with regular cleaning.
If this is a new issue and you do not have a flat-faced breed, we may be looking at an infection or allergy.
A vet visit is best so we can examine him and his eyes and stain them for any ulcers, as well as flushing them out in case there is any debris. We want to ensure the tear ducts are patent.
In some cases, cats may need medicine (such as anti inflammatories or antibiotics) to resolve the issue.
